Q: What is Kerry Sports Manila doing to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission when it re-opens?

Kerry Sports Manila has enhanced its already stringent hygiene and sanitation measures to ensure the safety of our members and colleagues. We have exercised diligence in ensuring compliance to local government regulations on the operational set up of the facility enhanced further by our global hygiene and sanitation protocols under Shangri-La Cares and reinforced by our Safeguard Hygiene Excellence Certification issued by Bureau Veritas and Safety Seal by the Department of Tourism. Our protocols include:

  • Mandatory temperature screening and travel and health declaration prior to use of the facility.

  • Wearing of PPEs such as masks and face shields upon arrival. Face masks and face shields must worn at all times with provision to remove only while working out. Colleagues wear face masks and full face shields at all times with enhanced personal protective equipment upon deep cleaning and disinfection.

  • Enhanced cleaning and sanitation of high touch surfaces.

  • Safe physical distancing markers are in place.

  • Sanitation stations located in key areas.

  • Reduced capacity in locker areas with pre-assigned lockers to ensure safe physical distancing and deep cleaning prior to use.

  • Communication materials of protocols in place and key updates to our members and within the facility.

  • Reminders to ensure practice of good personal hygiene which captures frequent hand washing and observing prescribed physical distancing.

It is important to recognize that public health information and government regulations may change quickly therefore our health and safety standards will be updated regularly.

Q: With all these changes in the club, it may impact my gym experience. When will you be lessening these restrictions?

The health and safety of our members and colleagues are our utmost priority during these unprecedented conditions. We are committed towards providing an exceptional fitness experience in a safe environment and hope for the understanding and cooperation of our members and guests. We will continue to follow prescribed guidelines by the local government and public health officials in the interest of our collective well-being.

Q: With some of the amenities closed or restricted, will you be reducing membership fees?

In line with regulated operational areas of the facility, we are presenting the option to freeze your membership up to an additional three (3) months. Our membership team are available for more information or clarification on membership options. Regulations in place are in compliance to local government regulations and our global hygiene and sanitation standards to ensure the wellbeing of our members, guests and colleagues.

In order to add value for our members’ experience, we have been hard at work behind the screens with online options in our social media channels to support you as you work on your health and fitness goals from home.    


Q: Despite all the safety measures you have put in place, I still have reservations about coming into the Club. What are my options?

We have enhanced our already stringent hygiene and sanitation protocols to ensure a safe environment for our members and colleagues. However, we do recognize that everyone’s personal situations are different and so we are presenting the option to freeze membership for up to three (3) months that you may request to utilize. This will take effect immediately upon re-opening and may be redeemed for the remaining months of 2021. Should you avail of the request and decide to start using the club, the complimentary option to freeze membership will be forfeited. 

Q: Why is it necessary to book my workout?

A preset capacity for our club will help facilitate physical distancing and help guarantee your workout time. This also captures provision for disinfection between workout block periods as we strive to find a balance between providing a safe environment and a seamless workout experience for our members.

Q: Why are Group Fitness Classes not available?

Local government regulations note that group classes are not allowed at the moment. We are closely monitoring local government guidelines to ensure the safety of our members and colleagues.

Q: When do members need to wear face masks and face shields inside the Club?

Members are asked to wear their face masks and face shields as much as possible inside Kerry Sports Manila and to observe a safe physical distance of 1.5 meters at all times. While actively engaging in exercise such as weights or cardio, members may remove their masks but will need to maintain a 5-meter distance from other members and colleagues. We ask that members wear their face masks and face shields when entering and exiting the hotel, moving to and from the changing room, while in the change room, wash areas or mobilizing in general in the club.  

Q: Are showers available?

Shower facilities are available. Towel service will not available with the exception of the smaller workout towels.

Q: Do I need to sanitize the equipment?

Members are encouraged to sanitize the equipment before and after use. Sanitizers will be made available throughout the club for members to use.

Q: Are lockers available for use?

To ensure safe physical distancing and cleanliness, locker room capacity has been reduced with select lockers secured and available lockers pre-assigned. Used lockers will be disinfected after each use for the safe use of the next member.

Q: What has happened to the time during the closure? Will it be added to our membership?

The total number of days our club has been closed will be added to the end date of all memberships. This will take effect upon the club’s reopening.
